Getting child passports is slightly different from getting passport for an adult. In issuing a child passport, there are some rules required to follow. In different countries, these rules may be different.  In general, you will need to have the following things in order to apply for a child’s passport and get it successfully:

A notarized application from the government authority

In case of child, their appearance change with time. Thus, you need an application for change in appearance on the every renewal of the passport, until the child becomes 18 years old. On the application form, you need to paste a passport size photo that must be notarized by the government authority.

To apply passport of a child, you will need the attested photocopies of the first and last pages of the passports of the child’s parents, both father and mother.  In case of the death of a parent, you will need to present the death certificate. In case of divorced parents, you must need to submit a photocopy of divorcé verdict and the document related to custody of the child.  In addition, you will also have to represent attested no objection documents from both parents.

These are the same general rules followed while applying for a child’s passport. These rules can vary in different countries as well.
